Un grupo de estudiantes de la Universidad Tecnológica del Chocó Diego Luis Córdoba visitó el CIAT el pasado 5 de junio para conocer diversos procesos de investigación que se adelantan en el tema de mejoramiento de fríjol y en el área de entomología. Los visitantes, que cursan actualmente noveno semestre de ingeniería agroforestal, estuvieron muy atentos en esta jornada de intercambio de conocimiento y expresaron sentirse impresionados con la infraestructura el CIAT. “Esta ha sido una experiencia inolvidable: es la primera práctica que hacemos fuera de nuestro departamento y la consideramos muy importante al tratarse de un organismo internacional que lo conocíamos por las bibliografías… hemos podido tener acceso a nuevos conocimientos y esperamos poder replicarlos en nuestra región para desarrollar  nuevas técnicas y ayudar así a los campesinos de allá”, comentó Didier Tello, uno de los estudiantes visitantes.

El docente a cargo de la actividad, José Harry Copete, dijo que este tipo de eventos “son de vital importancia para que los estudiantes tengan otra visión, no se encajen en lo que hay en el Chocó sino que trasciendan porque no saben dónde se van a ubicar en el futuro laboral. Estos saberes son muy importantes para ellos porque están en proceso de formación”. El CIAT continuará aplicando enfoques efectivos para la participación del conocimiento y el aprendizaje con diferentes comunidades del trópico.

A group of students from the Technological University of Chocó Diego Luis Córdoba visited CIAT on June 5th  to get to know various current research processes on bean improvement and entomology. The visitors, who are currently enrolled in ninth semester of engineering and forestry studies, were very attentive in this journey of knowledge sharing and expressed being impressed by CIAT’s infrastructure. “This has been an unforgettable experience: This is the first practice we do outside our department, and we consider it to be very important as CIAT is an international institution. We only knew it by bibliographical references… We have been able to access new knowledge, and we look forward to sharing it in our region to develop new technologies and thereby help our community”, said Didier Tello, one of the visiting students.

The teacher in charge, Jose Harry Copete, said “such events are of vital importance for students to have a different view and not be left only with what  Chocó can offer them. They must go beyond their expectations to have a better point of view for future work. Knowledge is very important for them because they are being formed”. CIAT will continue to apply effective approaches for knowledge sharing and learning with different communities of the tropics.
