Last week we facilitated the Roots, Tuber and Banana (RTB) Post-harvest workshop. RTB is one of the 15 research programs of the CGIAR. The objectives were to meet as a team between CGIAR centers (IITA, CIP, Bioversity and CIAT), to share post-harvest research and identify promising areas of work in three themes: Post harvest technologies, end-user preferences and value chains for RTB. While the first two days where heavy in terms of presentations it seems that they were needed for the group to understand past experiences in post-harvest and possible future collaboration. The third day wad dedicated to a field trip to Colombian’s coffee zone which is also a hot spot for plantain production. The group stopped in 5 different locations to see plantations and processing units. The last two days of the workshop were dedicated to group work on the three above mentioned themes. CIAT took also advantage of the presence of more than 50 participants to show its Cassava research at HQ, in the field and in the laboratory.
The photo shows a Spider diagram that indicates participant’s satisfaction with the event and its different sessions. The closer the dot to the center the higher is the participant’s satisfaction. Those diagrams are a
quick and dirty way to evaluate a workshop.
